Contract Negotiation

When we are instructed by our clients to comment on their proposed contract, we draw on our experience of the Housing, Grants, Construction and Regeneration Act 1996 and the key clauses the act requires all construction contracts to incorporate.

All construction contracts must have specific clauses regarding Specification, Price, Payment Mechanism, Programme, Scope of Works, Suspension of Work and Adjudication (as a minimum).

Often Main Contractors attempt to bend these clauses to suit their own means via amendments. These amendments may also contain contract clauses that could expose your company to potential large financial liabilities.

Please remember that it is imperative that all proposed contracts and amendments are reviewed and if appropriate comments made.
